Peter Stevens

Peter has been a high-level amateur athlete for many years, beginning his athletic career in racquetball, and later discovering his bike legs when he relocated to St. Louis and encountered the cycling scene here. He’s been an active teammate and racer with Velo Force since 2010 and has competed in events both locally and across the midwest in his racing career.

Peter recounted a fun and teamwork driven race:

“The most fun that I ever had in a race was in the Iowa State Road Race in 2018.  Steve Babcock, Dana Braet, and I raced together.  Steve got into a two-man break and Dana and I took turns covering attacks from the peloton and controlling the pace at the front. The break lasted to the end, although Steve got 2nd. It was fun because we worked as a team, Dana and I had a purpose and a role: something specific we could accomplish vs. “trying to do our best in one way or another”, and the race was in Riverside, IA . . . birthplace of Captain Kirk, so we took a photo by the Starship Enterprise.”
